As-Siddiq means "a sincere person" or "one who justifies". Then, why was Abu Bakr given this title?
1. Strong Faith
Abu Bakr was the first person to immediately believe and confirm the message of the Prophet Muhammad SAW when he was appointed as Prophet and Apostle.
His belief and belief in the Prophet Muhammad was steadfast, so he was known as "As-Siddiq" which means "The Very Justifying One".
One of them was famous during the Isra Mi'raj event. Namely, when the Prophet Muhammad SAW told of his mystical experience of traveling at night from the Grand Mosque to the Aqsa Mosque and then ascending to the sky, many people doubted this story. However, Abu Bakr was the first to confirm the Prophet's story without hesitation, showing his strong trust and loyalty. For this reason, he received the title As-Siddiq.
2. Support and Sacrifice
Abu Bakr always supported the Prophet Muhammad, both morally and materially, in spreading the teachings of Islam in its early days.
He was willing to sacrifice his wealth and himself to protect the Prophet and the Islamic religion.
3. Commendable Personality
Abu Bakar is known as a figure who is honest, trustworthy, and has noble character.
He has always been an example and role model for other Muslims.
The title "As-Siddiq" given by the Prophet Muhammad himself to Abu Bakr was the highest award for his extraordinary faith, personality, and devotion in the struggle to uphold the Islamic religion.
